LSSNCA Uniting for Ukraine

Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSSNCA) appreciates the intention of the Biden Administration to provide an expedited path to safety for more than 100,000 Ukrainians forced to leave their homes through its Uniting for Ukraine plan. However, the plan leaves arriving Ukrainians vulnerable and without access to the same benefits and services as a refugee. Last summer, when Afghanistan fell to the Taliban, LSSNCA welcomed hundreds of Afghans arriving in the Greater Washington D.C. area before they were eligible for refugee benefits. With your help, LSSNCA welcomed the largest number of Afghan Allies on the East Coast, more than 4,000 individuals. We are now gearing up to help welcome Ukrainians. We look forward to continuing our partnerships throughout the community so we can build a strong network of welcome and support around our new neighbors.
