How to Help

Rent to a Refugee

LSSNCA finds housing for recently resettled families and individuals in Northern Virginia and Maryland. With the housing crunch impacting cities nationwide, as well as the large number of new neighbors from Afghanistan, Ukraine, and other countries, the process has become even more difficult.

Typically, we find homes through landlords we’ve worked with over the years. Unfortunately, the number of arrivals is outpacing availability.

We’re always looking to build new relationships with independent landlords, local property management companies, and national real estate partners to find attainable, safe, and secure housing options for qualified program participants.

HOW CAN I RENT TO REFUGEES?

If you or someone you know is a landlord, building manager, or knows of properties that would rent to resettled families, please fill out the form below.

HOW MANY REFUGEES NEED HOMES?

LSSNCA welcomes families daily who can immediately fill your vacancies.

WHO PAYS FOR REFUGEES’ APARTMENTS?

LSSNCA provides rent for program participants for the first three (3) months of their arrival, ensuring a smooth transition for new neighbors as they secure employment. LSSNCA is unable to co-sign leases but can provide a support letter as needed since refugees don’t arrive with a U.S. bank account, or credit and rent history. They do, however, arrive with work experience, immigration status verification, a desire to build a stable life for their family, and access to LSSNCA’s housing team to support both of you.

Where are you looking for homes?

LSSNCA has welcome offices in Arbutus (Md.), Frederick (Md.), Fairfax (Va.), Greenbelt (Md.) and Woodbridge (Va.), and we find homes for families across Maryland and Northern Virginia. Neighborhoods in Maryland include Baltimore County, Frederick County, Montgomery County, and Prince George's County. In Virginia, communities include Alexandria City, Arlington County, Fairfax County, Falls Church, Louden County, Manassas, Manassas Park County, and Prince William. We're always interested in growing our network.

Why should I rent to a refugee family?

With consistent arrivals and assured rental payments, renting to refugees helps you guarantee payments, fill open units faster, and minimize turnover.

Working with LSSNCA on attainable housing ensures you have a partner. Our housing team is available to work with you in-person, over the phone, and virtually to ensure smooth transitions and support. We can also assist with translation support services.

You’re investing in your community by welcoming qualified families and giving them a safe and secure home to restart their life and begin their journey in the United States.
