Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSSNCA) offers an evidence-based home visiting program for pregnant women and parents of young children in Washington, D.C.
This program partners trained parent educators with expectant mothers and young families to improve health outcomes, strengthen family well-being, and ensure children are safe, healthy, and ready for school.
LSSNCA’s Maternal Health program is for women ages 18–24 who are:
- Pregnant, or
- Parenting a child under age 5, and
- Live in Washington, D.C., with a focus on Wards 4, 5, 7, and 8.
Families referred to the program receive comprehensive, wraparound support from a trained parent educator.
Families can receive:
- Regular home visits
- Prenatal and postpartum support
- Safe sleep and breastfeeding education
- Early learning and school readiness support
- Coaching on positive parenting practices
- Individualized family support plans
Our trained parent educators can also connect families with health care, mental health services, housing assistance, and other community resources when needed.
