LSSNCA Applauds Court Ruling Supporting Refugee Resettlement

Washington, D.C.  –  Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSSNCA) welcomes the district court’s recent ruling in Pacito v. Trump, which establishes a compliance framework requiring the government to promptly follow the preliminary injunction. The injunction mandates the resumption of refugee admissions for an estimated 12,000 individuals already approved for resettlement before Jan. 20, 2025.

“This ruling offers renewed hope to thousands of refugees who were at the finish line of securing safety in the United States,” said LSSNCA CEO Kristyn Peck. “Families who faced separation and uncertainty can now begin to look forward to reunion, safety and the promise of a brighter future.”

LSSNCA urges the administration to immediately begin processing and admitting refugees. The organization and community stand ready to support their arrival and help restore the nation’s long-standing commitment to welcoming those seeking refuge.
