LSSNCA Statement on the Shooting at Former President Trump’s Rally

WASHINGTON, D.C. July 15, 2024, Statement from Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSSNCA) on the Shooting at Former President Trump’s Rally. 

Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSSNCA) condemns the political violence that occurred at a rally for former President Trump in Pennsylvania on Saturday. 

LSSNCA mourns the death of Corey Comperatore and expresses our solidarity with his family and other survivors of this traumatic event.  

 As an organization dedicated to welcoming individuals seeking safety from oppression and violence due to their personal characteristics and beliefs, LSSNCA upholds the values of democracy, free speech, and non-violence.  

"Political violence has no place in a democracy, and these acts undermine American values," said LSSNCA CEO Kristyn Peck. "Our thoughts are with all those affected by this senseless act." 

LSSNCA reaffirms its commitment to fostering a welcoming environment where all people, regardless of background or belief, can thrive.
