Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSSNCA) celebrates the recent executive action taken by the Biden administration to protect undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens. This significant policy announcement marks a pivotal moment in our nation's immigration reform efforts, underscoring a commitment to keeping families together and recognizing the contributions of long-standing residents to our communities.
“For over two decades, many of these individuals have called the United States home and yet they face the constant threat of separation from their loved ones. They've worked hard, paid taxes, and enriched their communities. By providing a pathway to citizenship, we acknowledge their rightful place in our communities and finally bring an end to the uncertainty they've endured,” said LSSNCA CEO Kristyn Peck.
As we move forward, we urge bipartisan support for a comprehensive immigration reform that protects individuals from harm and that upholds our country’s legacy of welcome.
LSSNCA has accompanied those in need to foster resiliency, self-sufficiency, and access to opportunities by creating, connecting with, and engaging welcoming communities in the greater Washington, D.C. metro area since 1917.
