LSSNCA Reaffirms Commitment to Refugees and Immigrants; Welcomes Opportunity to Collaborate with New Administration

Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSSNCA) looks forward to working with the incoming Trump administration to uphold America's legacy to serving as a safe harbor for those escaping violence and persecution—a legacy woven into our nation’s history, from those who first sought religious freedom to those fleeing conflict and oppression worldwide.

The United States has long served as a place of refuge for those fleeing violence and persecution, honoring a fundamental commitment to protect and uplift those seeking safety. As this new chapter of leadership begins in January, we hope the administration will center the country’s longstanding promise of welcome.

For more than 100 years, LSSNCA has welcomed newcomers in the D.C. metro area, accompanying individuals and families through their resettlement journey and supporting them as they build new lives. We ask the incoming administration, Congress, and the nation to recognize and embrace the strength that diverse communities bring to our society and to pursue bipartisan policies that reflect our nation’s tradition of welcome.

LSSNCA remains steadfast in our mission to serve those forced to flee. Our work to build welcoming and thriving communities and provide wraparound support to our new neighbors will continue.
