Currently, Afghan Allies must apply for asylum within the next two months due to their humanitarian parole (APA) status. LSSNCA has resettled more than 4,500 Afghan nationals and needs support filing paperwork and providing legal assistance.
Our ongoing Afghan Allies client pro se asylum clinics need volunteers with and without legal experience (no language experience needed):
1. Volunteers with no legal experience required are needed for our August asylum application filing clinics for Afghan Allies clients. We need 200 volunteers. You will be paired with a client and translator to assist with writing and saving narratives for the asylum application. There is nothing legally binding for volunteers. Dates: August 18, 19, 22, 23, 25, 26, 30, and 31. SIGN UP HERE!
All volunteers must bring their own Windows or Mac laptop (with a USB port for a thumb drive) and charger (tablets and Chromebooks are not compatible).
2. Lawyers, law students and/or those with legal experience are needed now through the Fall to review the completed asylum applications (I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal) in-person to ensure they are completed properly and present a clear narrative immediately before submission. Dates are flexible. Fill out the form below.
