Good Neighbor: Resettle a Refugee
The first few months in the United States are the most intensive for refugees and immigrants. To ease the transition, LSS/NCA matches each refugee family with a mentor, local church or group to help provide additional support for a short period of time.
Good Neighbors give new arrivals a greater sense of belonging in their new community. Partner responsibilities range depending on the needs of a particular family but typically include meeting refugees at the airport, preparing their first apartment, providing guidance on shopping, transportation and other local resources. If your group would like to become a part of a meaningful opportunity to rebuild lives and strengthen the community, Become a Good Neighbor.
