Youth Haven Camps & Retreats

Nestled in Maryland​'s​ Catoctin Mountains​, trained camp leaders and volunteers mix outdoor play--- through art, games, challenge courses, hiking,​swim,​ ​yoga, etc.-- with health education and team building to​ ​create an unforgettable experience. ​​Youth and family members ​​explore fun ways ​to​ build healthy​ ​relationships​ and wellness habits for years to come.

  • February 17-19 -- BE WELL Retreat​-- 9th graders -​ age ​24​, PLWHIV​ only
  • March 24 – 26 -- College Sampler​ ​-- 9th graders - age 24​
  • May 19 – 20 -- Family Mini-​C​amp​-- Parents/Guardians must attend with youth
  • June 23 – 25 -- Adventures in Leadership​ Retreat - ​9th graders through - age 24​)
  • July 29 - Aug.4 -- Kids Camp​-- Rising 2nd Graders - ​9th graders

LSSNCA, knows the journey to adulthood is always complex. Since 1999, Youth Development & Wellness  programs have been supporting youth living with social stigma, providing a confidential supportive environment where youth share new experiences, find comfort and hope, and grow past stigma through peer and mentor support combined with wellness education, leadership development, and expert counseling. It's the place where youth are Connected, Healthy, and Succeeding.

RETREAT DETAILS

BE WELL Retreat​ --February 17-19, 2018
Overview: In a fun environment, retreat participants practice using new tools to successfully reach their goals from medication adherence to strengthening ties within their circle of support. Youth Haven participants develop leadership skills, learn healthy habits for the mind and body, and create life-long bonds.

Eligibility: Age 16-24; personally has an HIV diagnosis, Mental Health diagnosis, or Substance use disorder

Fee: $325/person - Includes transportation from a designated pick-up location to the retreat location, 2 nights lodging, toiletries, bedding, 3 days of meals, activity supplies and fees, and access to licensed medical and wellness professionals on site. There are 18 grant-funded slots available at NO COST to agencies or clients. Please contact the Youth Haven office to reserve one of these grant funded slots for your client.


College Sampler​ -- March 24-26, 2018​
Overview:  Discover a path towards higher learning. Have fun, make connections and find out what college life is really all about. Learn more about yourself-- and the opportunities around you-- by participating in activities and workshops created to: Build leader and problem solving skills, connect you with college staff and students, shadow college students on campus and in classes, introduce you to student organizations and internships, help you turn passion into profession. 

Eligibility: 9th grader through age 24;  has an HIV diagnosis, Mental Health diagnosis, or Substance use disorder personally, or resides in the home with some who does.  

Fee: $225/person - Includes transportation from a designated pick-up location to the retreat location, 2 nights lodging, toiletries, bedding, 3 days of meals, activity supplies and fees, and access to licensed medical and wellness professional on site. There are 18 grant funded slots available at NO COST to agencies or clients. Please contact the Youth Haven office to reserve one of these grant funded slots for your client.


Family Mini-​C​amp​ -- May 19-20, 2018
Overview: A weekend trip for the entire family held at Mar-Lu-Ridge. The retreat is designed to strengthen family bonds and improve family communication skills that help the family tackle challenges and learn how to discuss and disclose a diagnosis. 

Eligibility: Parents/guardian must attend with youth. An HIV diagnosis,  Mental Health diagnosis, or Substance use disorder is within in the family

Fee: 20 grant funded slots available at NO COST to agencies or clients. Please contact the Youth Haven office to reserve one of these grant funded slots for your client.


Adventures in Leadership​ Retreat June 23-25, 2017
Overview: Through adventure, practice the skills that lead to academic and career success. 3-day Overnight camping retreat​s​ ​nestled in Maryland​'s​ Catoctin Mountains​.​ Trained camp leaders and volunteers mix outdoor activity--- through art,​ games, ​challenge courses, hiking,​swim,​ ​yoga, etc.-- with health education and team building to​ ​create an unforgettable experience. ​​Youth explore fun ways ​to​ build healthy​ ​relationships​ and wellness habits for years to come. 

Eligibility: Age 15-24;  has an HIV diagnosis, Mental Health diagnosis, or Substance use disorder, or resides in the home with some who does.  

Fee: $175/person - Includes transportation from a designated pick-up location to the retreat location, 2 nights lodging, toiletries, bedding, 3 days of meals, activity supplies and fees, and access to licensed medical and wellness professional on site. There are 18 grant funded slots available at NO COST to agencies or clients. Please contact the Youth Haven office to reserve one of these grant funded slots for your client.

Kids Camp​ -- July 31-August 4, 2018
​Overview: 5-day Overnight camping retreat​s​ ​nestled in Maryland​'s​ Catoctin Mountains​.​ Trained camp leaders and volunteers mix outdoor play--- through art,​ games, ​challenge courses, hiking,​swim,​ ​yoga, etc.-- with health education and team building to​ ​create an unforgettable experience. ​​Youth explore fun ways ​to​ build healthy​ ​relationships​ and wellness habits for years to come.

Eligibility: Rising 2nd Graders -​ 9th graders; have an HIV diagnosis, Mental Health diagnosis, or Substance use disorder personally, or resides in the home with some who does.  

 Fee: 30 grant funded slots available at NO COST to agencies or clients. Please contact the Youth Haven office to reserve one of these grant funded slots for your client.
