LSSNCA offers a variety of internship programs in all of our programs including Human Resources, Development, Foster Care and Refugee and Immigration Services.
Application Process
All positions are temporary and open for three sessions throughout the year (Winter/Spring; Summer; Fall). Interns must work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Most of the interships are unpaid, however, the posting will specify either way. The internship start and end dates are flexible according to your academic calendar, and the scheduled assignments within the various programs. A printable detail list of the available internships can be found in the "Downloads" section under the name of the Program sponsoring the internship.To be considered as a applicant a writing sample is required.

Job duties:
Overall job duties include assisting the Director of Development with reaching out to current and potential donors who believe in LSS/NCA’s mission to walk with those in need and mobilize community partners to provide services that offer hope and rebuild lives. Our current programs focus on:
• Adoption and Foster Care
• Disaster Preparedness and Response
• Refugee and Immigrant Services, including resettlement, employment training/services, and language classes
• and Youth Haven Camps for children and teens living with HIV/AIDS.
Specific duties include:
• helping organize, market, and implement strategies to ensure the success of LSS/NCA’s fall fundraisers, including Help the Homeless campaign and Expressions of Abundance
• coordinating weekly acknowledgement and monthly pledge reminder process
• assisting in donor outreach and cultivation through mail, phone, and in-person visits
• serving as a LSS/NCA contact to local businesses, individuals, and congregations
• drafting letters, newsletter articles, media releases, and other documents
• updating LSS/NCA’s Facebook cause page
• other duties as needed
Minimum requirements: Passion for social justice. Knowledge of MS Office Suite. Strong writing skills. Team player. 15-20 hrs; evening and weekends may be required
Preferred requirements: Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising (or related) majors preferred, but anyone with a passion for social justice and strong writing skills is encouraged to apply.
Requirements for applying: Cover letter, resume, and 3 writing samples of 1-3 pages each. Term paper excerpts are OK, but please do not submit long papers en totem; letters, articles, media releases are preferred. Send requirements to lssrecruiting@lssnca.org. Development office is located in Falls Church, VA however there is flexibility with your work location.
